Local community

coatofarms The municipality of Tranøy is on the southern side of Norways second largest island, Senja in Troms county. It is characterised by large forested areas, mountainous terrain and agricultural land. There are many salmon running lakes and streams, a long coast line and hiking paths for outdoor recreational activities such as fishing, hunting, hiking and berry-picking.

Main industries are agriculture, commercial fishing and aquaculture, although many service industries also support the community. The municipality administers an office to aid entrepeneurs in the establishment of business in the area.

The facility experienced some resistance from the local community with regard to recent expansion and redesign plans, but these were minor concerns and were promptly resolved.
